Science does not have to be altruistic. In fact, most of the time it is egotistic, according to a study by researchers in Spain that analyzes the discrimination that exists in citations of scientific articles in articles where researchers publish their results.

Are the images and data we collect of galaxies and other bodies millions of light years away millions of years old by the time we even take them? For example human sight takes about 50 milliseconds to occur

Some interesting brainteasers Starter Quote: Four dice colored red, yellow, orange, purple are rolled. In how many ways can the product of the numbers (assuming a blue four is different from a red four) so that the numbers equal 36? I used factorials for this one, but it will be interesting to see how you attempt your answer.

Dear Colleagues, i sent your esteem a message through the physics forum, i don’t know if it reached you or not, this is my first time to join a forum
any way i will try to summarize my problem: 1- i need to calculate and draw the velocity profile for a Non-newtonian fluid 2-fluid is viscous 3-flow regim, laminar and turbulent 4- i also will need to get the plug diameter ration. thak you very much for your time and consideration Regards, Mohamed

in physics, i’ve been taught that centripetal acceleration is given by v^2/r, but when i try to derive it myself, i get a=2v^2/(pi*r). i said that if the time period is T, after a time of T/4, the velocity would be going in the next direction, i said west to south, and this gives the equation a=4v/T, i then said that T=2*pi*r/v, so a=2v^2/(pi*r)

Okay, can someone please tell me how you find how far light has traveled since the big bang. I know the answer is 13.2 billion year, and I know you can get it by using c / H = answer in parsecs Then I convert parsecs to light years and I can get the time and distance from there.

Hi All, I’ve read the reason for longer radio waves being absorbed by the ionosphere more than shorter waves and the argument goes like this: The longer waves cause the ions in the ionosphere to travel a longer distance during a typical RF cycle because the time subjected to the electric field on each half of the cycle is longer. This longer distance causes more ions to crash into each other and the crashing into each other is the reason for more energy being absorbed.
